The lignite (leonardite), processed at Leonardite Products, has been used in the oil field for over four decades. GeoResources, who once owned the leonardite mine and processing center now owned by Leonardite Products, branded their “lignite” as LEN-OX, a combination of the words, leonardite and oxidized. Although LEN-OX has been and continues to be used in drilling mud all over the U.S., it is most commonly used on off shore drilling rigs. Attractive for its solubility rate, Leonardite Products encourages mud companies to test the product for themselves. Currently LEN-OX is available in 50 pound bags, one ton totes or in bulk.
