About Leonardite

Leonardite is a natural form of humates, completely organic in nature and beneficial in a wide variety of applications. Leonardite is found throughout the world, although the mines near Williston, North Dakota are unique due to the fact Leonardite occurs between layers of clay, which prevent other minerals and impurities from leeching into the Leonardite, resulting in a product that is more pure. Numerous tests have been conducted which substantiate the fact that our Leonardite consistently shows higher levels of carbon content, resulting in a higher humic content.

Our Leonardite is mined from the prairie in five-acre sections approximately 20 feet deep. These sections are located within 114 acres which make up the current Leonardite Products mining area. By mining small areas, the ecosystem is not drastically disturbed and the area wildlife has ample room to thrive. The mine is located three miles from the plant.
